Background

Our local fellowship COGOP-Luton was established over 37 years ago (1971) by Elder Issac Hutchinson, as part of the international and national Church of God of Prophecy.

Today, our local fellowship is a dynamic, relevant and rapidly growing fellowship that is poised to be a multi-cultural and “multi-thousand” fellowship, reflecting the communities that it serves.

Over the last 37 years of its existence our local fellowship has met in several different locations in Luton for its main meetings. This has allowed us to lay a foundation for our communities focus and emphasis.

Waulud Junior School, Marsh Farm, 37 years ago, provided the main venue for our fellowship meetings. Since that time we have used several venues. These include Maidenhall Junior School, Hightown Recreation Centre, and the Jubilee Community Centre, Marsh Farm.  The move to the Jubilee Centre, Marsh Farm in 1988 was significant. Following our move, we experienced a steady numerical growth in the number of children, young people and adults involved in our local fellowship (especially our Sunday School) as we interacted with the local Marsh Farm and wider communities.

What is remarkable is that after many years our local fellowship now back at Waulud Primary School (formerly Waulud Junior School), Marsh Farm, (since January 2006), where we started 37 years ago. We believe that this is prophetic, significant and strategic as preparation for our numerical growth and development following our vision from 1994.
